Description

A post-medieval extractive pit is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 560 metres N of Spring Grove Farm and centred at SP 80964 29791, an irregularly shaped extractive pit was recorded on the 1881 1st edition OS map and is about 45 metres in diameter at its widest, covering an area about 1,900 square metres. On aerial photographs taken in 2019, the feature is visible as a dark soilmark; and on recent remote sensing data it is barely visible as a slight depression (1-4).
