Description

A section of medieval or post-medieval road is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located at the junction of the B4032 and Main Street in Mursley and centred at SP 81953 28215, a 65 metres long and 5 metres wide earthwork bank is aligned WNW-ESE and flanked on both sides by a 3 metres wide ditch, linking Main Street to the B4032. It bisects a block of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. It may represent a former course of the road that was subsequently realigned. Aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the features remain extant (1-3).
