Description
Medieval field boundaries, ditches, drainage ditches and/or trackways are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located across two fields about 280 metres W of Lower Dean Farm and centred at SP 83009 26911, at least three parallel and sinuous trackways or possibly drainage ditches lead about 440 metres WNW from Lower Dean Farm. Nearby a curvilinear boundary ditch meets a fragment of extant field boundary visible on the 1st edition OS map and so likely is of the same function and date. Similarly, ditches aligned SW-NE appear to be field boundary fragments. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the features remain extant in the west field, but have been plough-levelled in the east field (1-3).
