Description

A medieval and/or post-medieval platform, boundary ditch and two possible ponds are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in two fields immediately south of Kingsland Farm and centred at SP 83826 28240, a subrectangular earthwork platform is about 33 metres W-E and 28 metres N-S at its widest, with a boundary ditch up to 4.5 metres wide on the N, W and S sides. Some 50 metres immediately south is a subcircular pond or extraction site about 19 metres at is widest. In the adjacent field to the E, a wedge-shaped pond or extraction pit is about 24 x 20 metres at its widest points. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, the platform, boundary ditch and pond in the west field remain extant, whilst the pond in the field to the east has been levelled (1-4).
