Monument record MBC43664 - Medieval settlement boundary ditches and platforms, Drayton Parslow

Probable medieval settlement boundary ditches and platforms are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on the north side of Main Road at Drayton Parslow, between the recreation ground and Manor Farm and centred at SP 84013 28706, three parallel linear ditches adjacent Manor Farm are between about 1.5 and 6 metres wide and between 58 and 68 metres in length, aligned NW-SE perpendicular to Main Road and creating two rectilinear enclosures. Adjacent the (now) recreation ground are three rectangular earthwork platforms, partly bounded by ditches. The largest is 32 x 27 metres at SP 84013 28706; the second is 27 metres to the NE and about 13 x 31.5 metres. A further 50 metres E of that is a third platform about 23 x 22 metres. On aerial photographs taken in 2019 and recent remote sensing data, all the features appear to have been levelled (1-3).
