Monument record MBC43660 - Medieval/post medieval house platform & boundary ditch, Old Leighton Farm

A medieval and/or post medieval house platform with boundary ditch is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on a field boundary about 370 metres E of Old Leighton Farm and centred at SP 84242 27624, a rectilinear earthwork platform is about 18 x 23.5 metres and is bounded on the SW and SE facing sides by a linear ditch, with the NW facing side bounded by the field boundary. The 1813 ordnance Surveyor drawing depicts an extant building at that location, though this has been demolished by the 1881 dated 1st edition OS map. The buildings function is unclear but was likely agricultural. Recent remote sensing data and aerial photographs taken in 2019 indicate that the features have since been plough levelled (1-5).
