Description
Medieval settlement boundary ditches and platforms are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located between Laurel Farm and North End and centred at SP 84852 26769, three rectilinear platforms about 41 x 37 metres, 28 x 19 metres and 11.5 x 10 metres are enclosed by connected linear ditches up to 5 metres wide. About 80 metres to the NW, a further three rectangular areas are formed by connected boundary ditches. Further NW, linear boundary ditches between 2.5 and 5.5 metres wide and aligned SW-NE indicate former narrow toft or croft boundaries that enclosed land between 15 and 20 metres in width. Recent remote sensing data and aerial photographs taken in 2019 indicate that some of the features have since been levelled by residential development, whilst the three platforms at Laurel Farm remain extant (1-3)
