Description

Field systems as evidenced by ridge and furrow earthworks, plough headlands, furlong boundaries and ditches of medieval and post medieval date, are visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks, levelled earthworks and cropmarks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in the parish of Swanbourne, within the project area, and centred at 79669 27025. These field systems were almost continuous across the whole parish of Swanbourne within the project area, remaining as well preserved earthworks in some areas, especially in parkland and permanent pasture at Swanbourne House. Areas and direction of ridges are mapped as part of the project - see project shapefile. (1-33)
