Description

A group of extractive pits of post medieval/modern date is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and levelled earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located approximately 300m west of the A4113 and centred at SP 77589 26318. Large irregular pits cut in to ridge and furrow earthworks. Some have been infilled and are now in arable fields, the largest appears to remain in a pasture field, the underlying geology is Weymouth Member mudstone; there are no superficial deposits recorded.
