Description
A medieval drove road or hollow way is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located across three fields between Stewkley village and Stewkley Dean and centred at SP 84219 26422, a hollow way between about 11 and 23 metres wide extends about 575 metres NW-SE. Part of this hollow way is depicted on the 1813 Ordnance Surveyor Drawing, but the features mapped by the project extend a further 290 metres towards a possible medieval deserted settlement (HER No MBC2294) and upon which also overlies a block of medieval and/or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation earthworks (1-3).
