Description
A possible 20th century circular chimney or kiln is visible on historic aerial photographs as a structure and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located on a field boundary to the rear of Chestnut Farm’s buildings, about 85 metres to the SE of the Methodist chapel in Drayton Parslow village and centred at SP 84163 28595, a circular chimney of uncertain height is about 4.3 metres in diameter. The shadow cast by it in the 1944 aerial photograph suggest it is not of significant height and resembles more a kiln in profile. The structure appears to have been demolished by 1946. OS maps of the period do not show any structure at this location. Aerial photographs taken in 1973 show that a Nissen type farm building had been constructed on the site by this time and by 2019 more permanent buildings now stand upon the site (1-4).
