Description

[Photo in 1982] (B1).
Eighteenth century house. 2-storeys and cellar, 4 bays. Rendered, with old tile roofs and moulded eaves cornice. 2 gable-end stacks, the left rebuilt. 4 windows in first floor, 3 in ground floor; the first floor window above the door is a modern (1997) insertion and the ground floor canted bay window was moved to the left in 1997. Double-hung sash windows with glazing bars in deep reveals and stone cills. Door in bay 3 under a porticoed porch with free-standing columns, which appears to be a twentieth-century addition. Some internal timber-framing. House extended to the rear in the nineteenth century, with further extensions and internal alterations in 1975, 1997 and 2015. In use as a farmhouse until 1905 when it opened as a guest house with a 'lunch and tea pavillion' for cyclists (B2-4).
