Description

Short sections early to middle Iron Age ditches were identified, possibly to improve drainage on the heavy clay soils. Late Iron Age to early Roman features represented by an elliptical enclosure, likely for livestock, and other field boundary ditches and dispersed pits. Evidence of metal working in ditch fill, but no in-situ evidence of metal working was found during evaluation or excavation. Two pits containing sherds of probable Saxon pottery indicate the possibilty of continued use into this period (B1).
