Description
Probable medieval or post medieval linear drainage ditches, hollow way and an earthwork bank are visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and were mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field east of Stapleford Farm and centred at SP 89737 28395, a linear ditch or hollow way about 69 metres long and 5 metres wide extends NE from the house located between Stapleford and the farm. From the NE end of this a 1 metre wide curvilinear ditch extends nearly 96 metres SE before turning a further 50 metres E; extending S from this are three short parallel ditches. A further 60 metres to the south of this a linear earthwork bank about 3.3 metres wide extends W-E about 57 metres, the function of which is uncertain. All the features described appear to have been ploughed levelled on aerial photographs taken in 2019 (1-2).
