Description
A probable medieval moat is visible on historic aerial photographs as an earthwork and a cropmark and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 200 metres NW of former Valley Farm and centred at SP 89438 25428, a roughly 34 metres square ditch varies between 4.5 and 6.3 metres wide, enclosing an internal area about 24 metres square. Only just visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1946, by 2003 the site appears to have been plough levelled and was visible as a cropmark (1-2).
