Description

The foundation walls of a rectangular building of medieval or post-medieval origin is visible on historic aerial photographs as earthworks and was mapped as part of the North Buckinghamshire Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18304). Located in a field about 133 metres west of Willow Lodge, Stoke Hammond and centred at SP 88248 28860, the outline of a rectangular wall up to 1.8 metres wide defines a building with an internal area about 29 metres SW-NE and 11. 5 metres NW-SE. Gaps in the SW end of the earthworks may suggest an entrance. Visible in the field in both 1946 and 1947, the features are not visible on aerial photographs taken in 2019 (1-4).
