Description

Late C19 public house of 3 bays and 2 storeys plus attics. Brick ground floor, imitation timber framing to upper floor. Tiled roofs. Centre bay gabled and projecting. Bay to left gabled single storey wing fronting road. Casement windows. Arched plaster name and decoration in centre gable. Recorded as 'lately rebuilt in 1893 by Messrs Weller, Brewers of Amersham' in 'Chalfont St Giles Past and Present' by P W Phipp, 1893 (B1).
The building retains evidence of historic structure with 17th century timber framing surviving in the low range to the left and extending across the ceiling of part of the bar, whilst the two-storey range that projects to the rear has late 18th century brickwork and sash windows (B2).
