Description

Gasworks built by George Bower for the Duke of Buckingham. Coal supplied by Wotton (Brill) Tramway.
The gasworks cannot be located from the historic mapping, possibly with estate buildings North of the
house. Survival not known (B20).
Circular structure (probable gasometer) shown within small walled or fenced-off enclosure in SW corner of farmyard on 1880, 1899 and 1920 25-inch OS maps. Not shown on 1922, 1923 or 1953 6-inch OS maps, so presumably demolished after 1920 (B21).
