Village Hall, early 20th century, single storey with tall ridge. Red brick with clay tile roof. Clock to
end gable. Modern replacement casement windows and catslide extension to rear. The building is
visually prominent in views along the Main Street, and sits closer to the road than other buildings in
the area, curtailing views along the street in both directions. A local note building within the conservation area of Ashendon (B1).
Shown on 1880 1st edition 25-inch OS map as 'Infant School' and on all subsequent 25inch and 6-inch OS maps as 'School'. Last shown as a school on late 1950s or early 1960s 6-inch OS map (B2).
Detailed survey plan of school building by W D Hartley in January 1946 (B3).
