Description

Former Manor Farm, built as Mentmore stud built on the site of northernmost of the farm buildings of
Manor Farm by 1879 (OS). Single-storey. Symmetrical courtyard layout in commanding position with
extensive views to SE. Original entrances in centres of shorter north and south sides, surprisingly not
associated with prominent two-storeyed gabled features in centre of longer east and west elevations
Now converted into residences. Elevations of plain pebbledash; openings with segmental heads in heavy quoined red brick surrounds. Roofs red clay Roman tiles. Landscaped surroundings with open and
covered car parking, circulation areas laid with herringbone pavers.
Significance: Farmstead buildings reflecting the origin as part of an estate stud farm, altered with
conversion to residential, retains some external characteristics; part of a group of model farms built in the mid-late C19.
Issues: The original uses of the buildings are no longer clear and the internal layout has gone. The
setting has altered with the change of use of the working stud to residential with domestic gardens and
planting. A local note building within the conservation area of Mentmore (B1).
