Description

IN PASTURE FIELD, A FORMER POSSESSION OF WOODSIDE FARM (B1), '?ROMAN MOSAIC' MARKED ON OLD BCM RECORD MAP (B3).
ACCORDING TO MR L E PIKE, THE MOSAIC WAS VICTORIAN, TRANSPORTED HERE FROM THE DEMOLISHED HOTEL CECIL, LONDON (B1).

[SU 96659832] "Mosaic. ?Roman" [This is an entry by a former assistant at the Museum. The curator, Mr. T.A. Hume, has left recently and the present assistant could not help on the subject] (B4)

The siting given falls in a pasture field a former possession of Woodside Farm. This has recently changed hands and no further information was gained (B5).

According to Mr L E Pike (B8) the mosaic was Victorian, originating from the old Hotel Cecil, London, now occupied by the Shell Centre (B6).
