Summary

Three Roman coins including one of Hadrian, one of Valens and a Roman provincial Greek coin were found in the garden of Town Farm before 1939. The finds are now in Buckinghamshire County Museum, accession number 16-18.66.

Description

AS, HADRIAN, MINTED ROME 119-121 AD. ROMAN PROVINCIAL GREEK COIN MINTED BY A MINOR CITY OF ASIA MINOR, LATE 2 CENT AD; AE3 OF VALENS, MINTED ANTIOCH 364-378 AD. FOUND BY MR. KING, HOLME R GREEN, 'SOME YEARS AGO' (BIBL1-2)


An as of Hadrian, a 'third brass' of Valens and a Roman provincial Greek coin were found in the garden of Town Farm SU 920988 by Mr King some years ago; now in the County Museum (Acc No 16-18.66) (B1).
Sited at SU 92029883, the coins were found separately and over a period of time by Mr King (b8). (B5)

Mr King is an old man and cannot recollect the circumstances of these finds, but was able to indicate the relevant garden area on the OS 6" centred at SU 92089888. The finds were made pre 1939. No further finds are reported (B6).
