Description

The evaluation identified a series of linear features that predate the ridge and furrow system. The gullies present in Trenches 1 and 3 were on a similar alignment to the ridge and furrow, which also reflects the topography of site, indicating that they possibly fulfilled a similar drainage/cultivation function. Only a small amount of pottery was recovered indicating the features date to the Late Iron Age/Romano-British period. The evaluation provided limited information regarding the ridge and furrow system, other than to suggest that they were active into the post-medieval period. (B1).
