Summary

Neolithic flint axe fragment found in River Thames near Boveney Church. A broken neolithic axe was found on the "Berkshire side of the Thames" near Boveney Church in October 1952. Boveney Church is situated at SU 9400 7768. The "Berkshire side" of the Thames at this point is actually in Buckinghamshire, owing to the way in which the county boundary cuts across the southbank of the Thames.

Description

BROKEN NEOLITHIC CELT FOUND ON BERKS SIDE OF THAMES NEAR BOVENEY CHURCH. 'BERKS SIDE' OF THAMES AT THIS POINT ACTUALLY IN BUCKS DUE TO COUNTY BOUNDARY CUTTING ACROSS S BANK OF THAMES (B3).
