Description

COLLECTION OF SURFACE FLINTS FOUND BY W.FILBY IN 1970 IN FIELD NEXT TO MOUNTWOOD AT TWO PERIODS (B1).
FINDS RETAINED BY FILBY, AND IN BCM (B1,B4) SEE 00.001-005.


TQ 025988. A scatter of waste flakes, two scrapers and a few stained, massive flakes ? Palaeolithic; and a barbed and tanged arrowhead found by W Filby on surface of field. The arrowhead is in Bucks Co Museum (Acc no 48 72) (B6).
According to Mr D Humphreys (b8), the flints were found at the site of the Roman building (TQ 09 NW 16) prior to its excavation (B7).
