OVATE HANDAXE, BASIL POINT, SHARP EDGE ALL ROUND, WAVY AND STRAIGHT. 1 CHIP ALMOST CHALKY IN APPEARANCE. LARGE 'POTLID' FRACTURE ON 1 FACE. MID ST.ACHEUL DATE? LAY IN GRAVEL JUST BELOW BOAR'S HEAD COTTAGES. ILLUS.(B1). SLIPPER SHAPED, WELL FINISHED, SOFT HAMMER TECHNIQUE. UNROLLED (B2). FOUND AT NGR (B3).

An ovate hand-axe, probably of St Acheul date, 6.3 in in length and 1.6 in thick was found in gravel, during the laying of pipes just below Boar's Head Cottages, Knotty Green and almost opposite the pathway to Penn (SU 932926) (B1).
