Description

(SP 9019) A silver coin of Offa King of Mercia (757-769 AD) was found in the village of Mentmore shortly before 1856. It is a variety of the type engraved by Ruding (a) Plate 5 figure 38, and at the time was in possession of the Rev J Ouvrey North, vicar of Mentmore. (B1).
