Description
A NUMBER OF ARTEFACTS FOUND IN A PLOUGHED FIELD INCLUDING IRON AGE POTTERY (00:001),12/13 CENT. POTTERY (00:002),17/18 CENT. POTTERY (00:003) .ARTEFACTS FOUND ALSO IN SW OF SAME FIELD INCLUDING SLAG (01: 001), FLAKES (01:002), MEDIEVAL POTTERY (01:003) AND ROMAN POTTERY (01:004). FINDER W.FILBY (BIBL.1,2,3
One Early Iron Age sherd and 13th-14th c sherds were found on the surface of a ploughed field by W Filby. SP 946014 approx (B3).
Mr Filby also found the following in the above field in 1974:- Slag pieces, 5 struck flints, 1 Md and 1 Ro (?) sherd. All finds Acc No 405.73 (B1).
The siting falls on a wide ridge top under crop and rough pasture. Nothing found during field investigation. Mr W Filby could not be contacted (B4).
