DITCHED ENCLOSURE VISIBLE ON APS, C.40M SQUARE, 78OM SE OF HORNAGE FARM (B1).
Field investigation in Sept 1972 by M E Farley confirmed EXISTENCE OF MOAT. WHOLE SITE INDISTINCT. RECTANGULAR OUTLINE SHOWN BY INFILLED DITCH C.0.5M DEEP, 2-3M WIDE, Moat 40m square, WITH DIFFERENTIAL VEGETATION GROWTH. NO INTERIOR BANKS OR OTHER FEATURES (B2 and B5).

Moat site listed SP 67751048 (B6).
A square water-filled moat with an entrance on the north side is shown at SP 67761046 on the OS 25" csl; it is 44.0m square and the ditches are 9.0m wide. This feature has now been almost completely infilled and is regularly under plough. Vestiges of the ditches were traceable in mowing grass at the time of field investigation. Clearly visible as a crop mark on 1974 OS Aps(b8). Sited on OS 6". (B7)
