Description

The Palace Cinema, from 1930 the Astoria Cinema, closed in the 1950s and is now a Superdrug store (B1).
The Palace Cinema opened in June 1914, with one screen and 505 seats in the stalls and circle levels. In 1930 it was renamed the Astoria Cinema and operated until it closed in May 1959. It was used as a furniture store by the London Co-Operative Society until 1981. The façade was subsequently rebuilt and the building is now a Superdrug store (B2).
