Description

Fieldwalking carried out in February 2017 by the Bucks Archaeological Society's Active Archaeology Group recovered small numbers of prehistoric worked flint, Roman and Medieval pottery sherds, and moderate numbers of post-Medieval pottery sherds. Ceramic building material was plentiful, with particular concentrations close to partly demolished late 19th century farm buildings. The low numbers and wide dispersal of the flintwork suggests that it represents more than one period of production. The very low numbers of Roman pottery recovered suggest that the fieldwalked area may not have been actively cultivated during the Roman period, whilst the number of Medieval pottery sherds is consistent with manuring scatters. See report for detail (B1).
