Description

The Chandos Cinema was built on the corner of London Road and Chandos Road and opened in January 1934. It remained independent of any cinema chain until closure in 1987. It was then used as a car showroom and workshop (B1). It is now a Sainsbury's Local.
Prior to the Chandos there was no permanent cinema; films were sometimes screened at Buckingham Town Hall (B2).
