Site of a large night-time bombing decoy operating to divert enemy bombers from attacking Slough. The site was one of two permanent 'Starfish' installations ('SF' sites) similulating incendiary fires in the town (the other site was at Stanwell Moor in Surrey). The earliest documentary reference to the Starfish site was on 1st August 1941 in Air Ministry letter S 58700 and the latest reference was on 8th April 1943 in Air Ministry letter S 72946/2 (B1).
Site visible on 1945 RAF APs. Most of the firestands had been removed, but the access tracks and shallow firebreak trenches are clearly visible in three field parcels and possibly just visible in one or two more (B2).
