Monument record 0787100000 - Land east of World's End Lane

Trenches 4, 5 ,6, and 7 targeted the enclosure identified by the geophysical survey. Trench 4 targeted the north eastern corner of the enclosure. Ditch [404] was 0.85m wide and 0.37m deep. It was cut by ditch termial [405], 2.50m wide and 0.80m deep, Bronze Age pottery and flint flakes recovered from the fill. Trench 5 targeted the north-west aligned western enclosure ditch. It was 2.88m wide and 0.96m deep, with steep edges and and a concave base. Late Bronze Age pottery, burnt flint, and cattle bone recovered its fills. Trench 6 targeted the south-eastern enclosure ditch and a parallel internal ditch. The enclosure ditch was 2.30m wide and 0.55m deep, and appeared to be terminating torwards the the north-east. The internal ditch was located 20m north. It was 2.20m wide and 0.48m deep. The ditch recut was 1.40m wide and 0.48m deep. Late Bronze Age pottery was recovered from the fill. Trench 7 targeted the north-eastern enclsoure ditch. It was 2.11m wide and 0.64m deep. 10m south was a north-east aligned ditch, 0.78m wide and 030m deep. It is likely a continuation of ditch 603/605 (B1).
