Description

Pits and ditches identified during trial trench evaluation. Trench 3 identified 2 possible medieval cess pits. Trench 5 identified a pit of probable 13th-14th century date. Trench 6 identified 13 features of medieval (12th-14th century)or post-medieval date, or undated features (B1).
The excavations at Land Parcel A revealed no archaeological features pre-dating the 18th century. The lack of garden soils or subsoils suggest the site has been heavily truncated during the 19th century, either prior to the construction of the housing terrace or during or after its demolition (B2).
