Description
Fieldwalking for the Whittlewood Project in 2000-2002 recovered 54 sherds (nearly half of the assemblage) of Romano-British pottery. A clear nucleus for the material was identified on the field suggesting a settlement site, possibly an isolated farmstead. The field lies close to an outcrop of gravel providing lighter soils than the predominant glacial boulder clays. The location of a Romano-British site in an elevated location mirrors sites found elsewhere (B1-2).
