Description
Two storey brick building sitting beneath a shallow pitched gabled slate roof the ridgeline of which
runs parallel with the carriageway. Brick end stacks. Constructed of red brick with stone quoins and
window and door surrounds providing a strong visual contrast. Symmetrical three bay elevation
with central door to ground floor sitting beneath a simple flat porch. Door flanked to either side by
6 over 6 timber sash windows. First floor has three identical 6 over 6 timber sashes. This is a
significant local building which makes a positive contribution to the character of the Conservation
Area. Set back a short distance from the pavement, it is visually prominent due both to its position
but also to the contrasting red brick and buff coloured stone of its principal elevation. Its
symmetrical form and massing are typical of late 18th and early 19th century buildings and it retains
all of its original external features. Local Heritage Asset in conservation area (1).
