Description

Probably the location of two buildings described oin a lease of 20th January 1696 as 'Hig Bed' and 'Hig Bed on the Hill'. A group of two buildings is shown a map of 1762 c 70m to the north-west of the present Clipper Down Cottage. They may relate to a sub-square earthwork in this approximate location. The buildings are shown a map of 1806, but not on the detailed Inclosure map of 1821. Hig Bed, or possibly High Bed, represents a probable medieval farmstead on Clipper Down (B1).
