Description

Evaluation trial trenching in 2016 by Cotswold Archaeology in advance of proposed residential development identied a sequence of four shallow intercutting ditches on a north-east alignment. First ditch silted up with an homogeneous fill if mid grey-brown silty-clay, before being recut on the same alignment by two further ditches. The final ditch in the sequence also appeared to have silted up naturally with an homogeneous fill of mid grey-brown silty-clay (B1).
Subsequent excavation bt Cotswold Archaeology in 2018 identified a sequence of 16th-18th century ditches, which continued to use similar alignment as the earlier medieval enclosures. Ditches forming a T-shape in plan. Four phases of minor modification and recutting, of the ditches identied (B3-4).
