Description

Grade II. Stable building of 2 storeys with rubble lower part, brick dressed and roughcast witchert upper part. Old tile roof. Loft door to road gable (B1).
Historic building assessment carried out by John Moore Heritage Services in 2015 concluded that the building is a simple outhouse or barn with a half storey loft area. Map evidence suggests that it was constructed in the mid 19th century. Lower part built of rough limestone, upper section rendered brick, with brick quoins and a clay tile roof. North-west façade only 1st floor above ground. Ground floor divided into two rooms. Partitiion wall has a stud frame with straight downward brace. Wall planked and whitewashed. Timbers appear to be older than others, but likely only very late 18th century at the earliest. First floor contains the remains of an off centre stairwell. Roof timbers contain central struts supporting perlins, saw cut and of no great age (B2).
