Description
Following geophysical survey in 2014, 5 trial trenches were excavated by Chess Valley Archaeological and Historical Society in June 2015. No evidence for any structures or buildings associated with the Roman villa were found, however two spreads of Roman material were found at a depth of c0.5m and interpreted as possible middens, along with three possible undated wheel ruts. Surprisingly no animal bone was recorded, although 'sheep's teeth' were noted. See report for detail (B24).
