Description

Negative geophysical survey carried out by Stratascan in July 2014, was followed by evaluation trial trenching by Cotswold Archaeology in December 2014 which identified 6 ditches (probably field boundary ditches) aligned NE-SW and NW-SE and 2 pits in trenches 5, 6, 8 and 9. The fills of 3 of the ditches and 1 of the pits contained Iron Age pottery, residual worked flint, burnt flint and animal bone. Possibly part of the cropmark site immediately to the west [CAS 04473] or related to another Iron Age pottery and flint scatter further to the east [CAS 06159]? See report for detail (B3).
