Description
C18th cent. 3 bay original section with 2 story extension on the left hand end and later additions on the right. 2 bay windows are on original section and 1 on left hand extension. A brick chimney is on each end of the original section. The front door is in front of the porch. There are three casement windows upstairs and two dormer windows in the roof. The extension has one bay window and one casement window upstairs with a blank wall between the extension windows and the original windows. The front is all rendered white (B1).
Formerly the Marquis of Granby. List of documentary evidence. Advert in 1824 for accommodation, pasture and stables for drovers (B2).
The Marquis of Granby Inn is two-storeyed with an attic, probably built late in the C16th, and encased in brick in the C18th. Modern extensions have been added at the South end and at the rear. There are some brick and timber buildings North of the house of uncertain date. Condition - Fairly good (B3).
