Description
Evaluation trial trenching carried out by Thames Valley Archaeological Services in September 2012 in advance of proposed redevelopment identified 3 large steep-sided pits 0.7m - 0.9m deep and ranging in size from 2m -5m in diameter, interpreted as quarry pits. Sherds of 13th century pottery and animal bone fragments were found in the upper fills of two of the pits. See report for detail (B1).
