Description

Built in 1923 as a war memorial. Architect Francis Bacon. The plans held by the Parish Council. The triangular dormer windows shown on those plans are not present, being filled by stained horizontal weatherboard, reminiscent of a Chiltern barn. The large and varied roofscape is an important feature of the building which is in a prominent position on a wide road junction at the entrance to the village. The building is significant for its architectural interest being designed by a good local architect in a style and materials sympathetic to its setting. Also for its historical interest as a war memorial and its current use as a thriving communal facility. This is a local building of note within the Conservation area of Denham (B1).
