Description

Approximate location of aircraft crash site. Wellington HZ375 crashed during a day flying training exercise on 30th July 1944, killing all 8 crew. 2 of the crew were Royal Australian Air Force personnel, the rest were RAF personnel. [Summary of accident, list of crew members and their places of burial] (B1-2).
Salvage excavation on behalf of the Aircrew Remembrance Society in September 2013 recovered small fragments of the airframe, and a few fixtures and fittings only, all badly damaged (B3).
