Description

A unusual structure resembling a roadside shrine with tablets on front face and surmounted by a small span roof. Commemorates 11 parishioners who were killed in WW1 and 5 in WW2. Unveiled on 8 February 1920 by Miss Leslie Cockshut. In good condition (B1).
Also a memorial of 11 trees to the fallen of Little Kingshill, one tree for each casualty named in the war memorial opposite. Photographs and further details (B2).
Grade II. First World War memorial, unveiled in 1920. Reasons for Designation: Historic interest - As an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on this local community, and the sacrifice it has made in the conflicts of the C20; Architectural interest - A modest yet poignant brick monument designed with architectural detail, and in good quality materials (B3).
