Description

A composite memorial comprising an original marble tablet with the later addition of a brass explanetory plaque. The memorial commemorates the death in action of Charles William Hugh Cavendish at Diamond Hill S.Africa during ther Boer War. The tablet originally marked the grave in S.Africa but was brought back to Latimer when replaced by a cross erected by fellow officers (B1).
