Description
FISHPOND (B1).
FISHPOND (VICAR'S); MEDIEVAL (B2).
A probable medieval fishpond is visible on historic aerial photographs and remote sensing data as earthworks and was mapped as part of the Aylesbury Vale Aerial Investigation and Mapping project (EBC18604). Located in the grounds of The Old Vicarage and centred at SP 87904 22691, the fishpond comprises 90 metres long slightly curvilinear waterfilled ditch aligned NE-SSW, with two long parallel sides about 14.5 metres apart and slightly rounded ends. The feature is recorded on the 1813 Ordnance Surveyors Drawing and subsequent historic OS maps. On aerial photographs taken in 2022, the pond remains extant and is still holding water (3-8).
