Description

A Cornish granite celtic cross 4.2m high, at junction of A41 and Brook Street, commemorates 30 parishioners who died in WW1 and 11 in WW2. Constructed by Messrs Newman and Harper, builders and unveiled by Major-General J C Swann on 2 April 1921 (B1).

Listed Grade II. War memorial cross, 1921, designed and built by Newman and Harper of Aylesbury. The Aston Clinton War Memorial is listed at Grade II, for the following principal reasons: - Architectural interest: a recognisable symbol of commemoration, well executed in good-quality materials; - Historic interest: a poignant reminder of the tragic impact made on local communities by the First, and then the Second, World Wars (B3).
